Kurbulak Fm
Type Locality and Naming
In the spring of Kurbulak, Merishkorskaya structure area, N. Nuratau Ridge. I.A. Kim, S.K. Piven' et al., 1987. Stratotype on the right bank of the Abartkan stream. Along A.A., the suite is distinguished in the span of the Gavalbet Beds Fm and Aidynsay Beds Fm of the Wenlock. In this dictionary, it is accepted only in the span of the Aidynsay Beds Fm.
Synonym: Kurbulak Suite, Курбулакская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Clay-sandy, algal, coral-brachiopod-stromatoporoid limestones. Thickness 240m.

Upper, Along A.A., conformable with the Dzhyush Beds Fm.
Regional extent
Northern Nuratau Ridge, within the Merishkorskaya structure. Z.M. Abdurazimova et al. (1996) and in the monograph (165), the Kurbulak Fm is considered only within the limits of the Aydynsay Beds Fm; the Gavalbet Beds Fm, which have a different genesis, are excluded from the formation.

Stromatoporoids - Clatrodictyon variolare (Rosen), C. linnarsoni Nich., C. perisum (Yavor.), Ecclimadictyon fastigiatumNich., Simplexodictyon validum (Nestor), S. podolicum (Yavor.) and others, typical for the Wenlock and Ludlow; tabulates - Mesofavosites ex gr. vulgaris Lel., Favosites ex gr. similis Sok., Palaeofavosites ex gr. balticus Kuz., Subalveolitella sp. (ex gr. crispus Kim) and others, found in Wenlock deposits; brachiopods - Harpidium subaliensis Sap., Conchidium largum Sap., C. Hospes (Barr.), Atripoidea linguata (Barr.) and others, characteristic of the Wenlock and Ludlow; trilobites - Scharyia corona Šnajdr. of the Wenlock.
